PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - Portland saw an increase in activity by federal agents on Friday.

A FOX 12 crew outside the U.S. Customs and Border Protection building observed dozens of people huddling in the back parking lot of the northeast Portland building. They then left in several convoys of large SUVs.

Some wore shirts that said “federal officer” on the back, but many were plainclothed. As the vehicles pulled out of the parking lot, many of them pulled up masks and lowered their visors as soon as they saw a TV news camera pointed their way.

Officials at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection offices in northeast Portland declined to comment on Friday afternoon. FOX 12 reached out to the agency’s headquarters in DC for comment, but they have not yet responded.
