BOSTON -- Fenway Park turned into bedlam on Friday night, as Ceddanne Rafaela smashed a walk-off triple high off the wall in center that pushed the Red Sox right into the postseason for the first time since 2021 with a 4-3 win over the Tigers.
Romy Gonzalez got the winning rally started with a one-out single to center against losing pitcher Tommy Kahnle. Up next stepped Rafaela, who mauled an 87-mph changeup to send Gonzalez all the way home from first.
Down 3-0 in the fourth inning, Boston spent the rest of the night chipping away. A dominant performance by the bullpen made the late surge by the offense possible.
