WAGENER, S.C. — A 10-year-old girl has died after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a road in Aiken County on Friday afternoon, according to Coroner Darryl Ables.

Officials say the incident happened around 4:20 p.m. in the 3000 block of New Holland Road. The child, identified as Tara Gram of Wagener, was hit by a Ford Expedition while attempting to cross the roadway, according to officials.

Aiken County EMS transported her to Prisma Health Richland, where she died from her injuries at 5:51 pm, Ables said.

The Aiken County Coroner’s Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol are continuing to investigate. An autopsy has been scheduled for next week in Newberry.
