DALLAS — Marwan Marouf, a longtime North Texas resident and community figure, was detained by ICE agents on September 22 and has now been in custody, going on five days.

"My dad has given his heart and soul, his time—everything for the last 30 years for this community," said Marouf’s son Mohammed, at a prayer gathering held Tuesday, where family and supporters called for his release.

The Muslim Legal Fund of America has strongly condemned the government's actions, calling the case "factually baseless" and accusing the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) of "manufacturing false narratives" that "set a dangerous precedent."
