MILFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- A Florida woman involved in a jewelry theft ring that targeted multiple states, including Connecticut, has been sentenced to two years in federal prison after being found guilty of conspiracy.

According to a release the office of the U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut, 41-year-old Yesenia Melendez Rincon of Kissimmee, Florida and several other people burglarized jewelry stores and kiosks in malls across the country, transporting the stolen items or proceeds across state lines.

Between May 2023 and April 2024, the group burglarized jewelry businesses at the Connecticut Post Mall in Milford, as well as stores in Lombard, Illinois; Hamilton Township, New Jersey and Henrico County, Virginia. None of the stolen jewelry has been recovered by investigators.
