WILSONVILLE, Ore. – Service dogs are reuniting with the women who helped train and care for them at a correctional facility in Wilsonville. These inmates taught the dogs 30 different cues and ensured they were accustomed to grooming and care during their first 18 months of life.

The dogs later move to a training center in California, where they become certified and are paired with their owners.

One program participant expressed gratitude for the opportunity to return to Coffee Creek Correctional Facility to reconnect with the trainers.

“I’m just so grateful to be able to come back to Coffee Creek to be able to meet Tanya and my fellow puppy raisers,” the participant said.
