A Democratic House lawmaker from Oklahoma City is reigniting an ethics complaint she first brought against State Superintendent Ryan Walters in March.
At the time, Rep. Ellen Pogemiller said a series of official press releases emblazoned with his official letterhead, and distributed by department staff, became red flags.
Those releases, which were published on March 10, 11 and 13, each mentioned the Teacher Freedom Alliance.
It’s the same group Walters has now announced, 6 months later, he will lead as CEO.
“I was blown away by that,” Pogemiller said. “We offer multiple unions in this state. Never had I seen a state official use his position to leverage one over the other. Immediately, I thought there was financial gain in Walters promoting this union.”
