Stanhope Elmore football is developing a lineage when it comes to the running back position.

In 2024, Arthur McQueen rushed for 1,951 yards on 222 carries and scored 23 touchdowns for the Mustangs. A stat line like that will make anyone do a double take. It's not an understatement to say that McQueen was the offense for Stanhope in 2024, but despite the efforts of McQueen, the Mustangs missed the Class 6A playoffs last season.

The running game is still Stanhope's bread and butter this season with a new face featuring as the star back. Junior Damarrian Barnes picked up where McQueen left off. Through five games, Barnes has carried the ball 103 times for 964 rushing yards with 18 touchdowns. In 2024, McQueen was at 1,026 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns.
