On a picturesque early fall Friday night under the lights, the visiting Hanover Area Hawkeyes recorded a commanding 42-0 shutout victory over the hometown Tunkhannock Tigers in a WVC Division 2 matchup.

The Hawkeyes bounced back in a big way with this resounding win after coming off of a tough 56-19 home loss to Berwick last week. Coach Eric Richardson said he was proud of how his squad responded.

“We talked about that,” Richardson said. “We got beat up last week, there’s no doubt about it, and that happens. We are a young team. We talked about, don’t lay on the canvas, we’ve got to get back up. This is a 10-round fight and that was only round five. This is round six.”

Hanover Area would open off its impressive scoring barrage with 3:22 left in the first quarter on the opening offensive
