Morristown West came into the City Championship at 0-4 desperately needing a win over crosstown rival East to gain momentum on the season.

The Trojans never wavered despite navigating a difficult opening stretch of schedule and finally strung together enough plays to come out with a 13-7 win over the ‘Canes at Burke-Toney Stadium on Friday night.

“I don't think we ever quit, if I'm being honest, we never do,” West quarterback Riley McClellan said. “We were looking forward to this game. We had it circled the whole year since we got the schedule. We circled it, and we've been ready. We did not plan to come 0-4, but we just kept pushing, and we want to win, so we're gonna go on a streak.”
