A Zelienople woman has been charged for allegedly trying to profit off of jewelry stolen from her roommate.
Melinda S. Patton, 38, was arrested on Sept. 23 and charged with felony counts of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.
According to an affidavit, Patton’s former roommate reported that $280 of her money and $6,470 worth of her jewelry had been stolen from her. A police investigation found Patton, who had moved in with the victim in March, had sold pieces of jewelry a total of eight times between April and June of 2025 at two different stores.
Upon being shown the items that were sold, the victim confirmed they were originally hers. Patton was found to have received $9,209 for selling the stolen jewelry, making a profit of $2,739, according to police.
