Five people were killed when a Mahindra Thar SUV with six young occupants collided with a divider and flipped multiple times on the National Highway-48 in Gurgaon early Saturday morning.

Police said the incident took place at 4.30 am near the exit route of NH 48 near Jharsa Chowk. The sole survivor is undergoing treatment at a private hospital and is in critical condition.

The six occupants were three women and three men.

A Gurgaon Police spokesperson said the Thar has been taken to the Sector 40 police station to look into its ownership details as part of standard procedure.

“It was a black Thar with a UP licence plate number. We are carrying out routine procedures towards quickly identifying the victims and the cause of the accident as of now. All those in the car were young.”
