A TRUCKIE accused of driving more than 14 hours without a regulated break said it was "an innocent mistake", a court has heard.
Gregory McRae appeared before Armidale Local Court on Monday, September 23.
He faced five charges of driving for more hours than the standard maximum time.
McRae represented himself in court. He did not enter any pleas to the charges.
In a statement tendered to court, police claimed the 61-year-old driver was pulled over by officers for routine testing and inspection about 2.15pm on Wednesday, July 23.
McRae, of Armidale, had been driving a 12 tonne, white Kenworth b-double truck south along the New England Highway near Tenterfield.
Officers asked [McRae] to produce his log book showing work and rest hours as mandated by the Federal Government.
