A rivalry is born.

Kelowna Rockets beat Penticton Vees 5-4 in Western Hockey League action, Friday at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

Tomas Poletin with two, Jacob Henderson, Hiroki Gojsic and Owen Folstrom scored for the Rockets. Diego Johnson with two, Ryden Evers and Jakob Kvasniocka replied for the Vees who were hosting their first ever WHL regular season game.

Josh Baini was the winning goalie making 30- saves. Jesse Sanche stopped 17 shots for the Vees.

Both teams play again Saturday, Sept. 27 at Prospera Place
