AURORA, Ohio— It took Copley just three minutes to go 89 yards to score the game-winning touchdown on Friday when sophomore quarterback Dane Wininger ran in a 4-yard touchdown for a 21-14 win over Aurora.
“We got to be clutch in that situation, it’s what we practice all year,” Wininger said of the message before scoring the game-winning touchdown.
Wininger’s score came with just over a minute left. After that, Aurora could only get to about midfield before the clock expired.
It was a night where Wininger completed just 5-of-11 passes for 58 yards, but as a team, the Indians ran for 194 yards on 43 carries, headlined by running back Bryce Martin’s 24 carries for 104 yards to help lift Copley (4-2) past Aurora (2-4).
