SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Congress has just days left to approve a federal funding package before a total government shutdown.
If that happens, national parks could close, immigration hearings may be cancelled, and there could even be delays at the airport if TSA agents refuse to show up to work without pay among a slew of other potential impacts.
Time is ticking for Congress to pass 12 appropriations bills that make up the federal spending budget.
“You can think about it kind of like COVID. Only the essential workers in the government remain when a shutdown happens,” political analyst Madeline Summerville said.
But, lawmakers have yet to pass any, meaning this would be a full government shutdown on Oct. 1.
