NEGAUNEE — Michigan State Police (MSP) announced the retirement of First Lieutenant Tom Nolan, commander of the Negaunee Post, after 25 years of distinguished service to the department and the people of Michigan.

Nolan enlisted with the MSP in 2000 and graduated as a member of the 119th Trooper Recruit School. Over the course of his career, he served at the Reed City Post, the Munising Post, and the Negaunee Post. He served as a trooper and uniform sergeant before being promoted to First Lieutenant and taking command of the Negaunee Post in December 2020.

As the Negaunee Post Commander, Nolan oversaw field services across Marquette and Alger Counties. A proud Upper Peninsula native, Nolan is a graduate of Munising High School and Northern Michigan University.
