CALEXICO — A joint student housing project for San Diego State University Imperial Valley and Imperial Valley College (IVC) is on schedule to open in fall 2026 after recently reaching a significant construction milestone.

The project achieved its “topping out,” a tradition marking the installation of the final structural beam and the completion of the building's highest point. This milestone signifies that the main framework is finished, and work is now moving into the next phases of construction, such as utilities, interior work, and exterior finishes.

Located on the east side of the SDSU Imperial Valley campus between Blair Avenue and East 7th Street, the housing will feature 40 single- or double-occupancy rooms for students enrolled at either institution.
