SAN FRANCISCO—On Wednesday, September 24, 2025, around five in the evening, on Highway 101 Southbound near Cesar Chavez Street and Highway 280, a driver in a gray sedan was trying to back out off the highway near the transition ramp in their attempts to take a different exit but instead caused a vehicular collision.

Around 5:40 p.m., all lanes on the highway had been closed down due to the ensuing crash. At 5:49 p.m., an ALERT SF text/email had been sent out. Three cars and a SamTrans bus had collided on Highway 101, sending three people with minor injuries to the local trauma center. There were three more injured passengers, who declined medical attention. As for the SamTrans passengers, there were no injuries.
