Former Steinbach mayor Chris Goertzen says his years at city hall were some of the most challenging and rewarding of his life.

Goertzen served three terms as mayor from 2006 until 2018, beginning at just 32 years of age. This week, he reflected on that time during a visit to the Country 107 Morning Show, served up by A&W Steinbach, where he joined host Carly Koop for a wide-ranging conversation.

Entering politics at a young age

Goertzen says his interest in municipal politics started early. His father served as a councillor, and he grew up watching how policy and decision-making could impact everyday life in the community.
