In a significant achievement, Punjab Police, in collaboration with central agencies, successfully extradited Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorist Parminder Singh, also known as Pindi, from Abu Dhabi, UAE, on September 26. Pindi is wanted for his involvement in various serious crimes in Punjab, including petrol bomb attacks and extortion.
Pindi has been linked to notorious terrorists Harvinder Singh Rinda and Happy Passia, both of whom operate from abroad. The BKI, a banned pro-Khalistan group, is known for its connections to crime syndicates and Islamist terror outfits in Pakistan, engaging in activities such as smuggling weapons and narcotics into Punjab.
The extradition process began with a Red Corner Notice issued at the request of Batala police. A four-member team from Punjab Police, led by a senior officer, traveled to the UAE on September 24 to complete the necessary legal formalities with the Ministry of External Affairs and UAE authorities.
Punjab Police Director General Gaurav Yadav described the operation as a historic success, emphasizing the department's commitment to combating terrorism and organized crime. He stated, "This operation underlines our zero-tolerance policy against terrorism and organized crime."
The extradition reflects India's growing international cooperation in tackling terrorism. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has been instrumental in utilizing Interpol's Red Notice system to bring back fugitives, with over 130 successful extraditions in recent years.
In parallel, Delhi Police's Special Cell is intensifying efforts to extradite gangsters operating from abroad, warning that those who support or glorify criminals will face strict legal action. The return of Parminder Singh marks a crucial step in enhancing national security and sending a clear message to anti-India elements worldwide.
