Climate of despair

The state Labor government is asking the federal Labor government to help it use more gas for longer (″⁣ Victoria calls for a gas reserve plan ″⁣, 27/9). I’m not sure whether to laugh or cry.

Both governments have climate action plans, which have failed to keep up with reality. It’s not just their fault – political, industry and media interests have much to answer for. It is better to keep some gas exports for local use. Victoria should have done this years ago.
