VIJAYAPURA: Eight people, who were stranded in the floodwaters of the Bhima river at Tavar Khed village in Alameel taluk, were rescued by the Sindagi fire force personnel by a boat on Saturday. Heavy rainfall in neighboring Maharashtra has led to a massive release of water into the Bhima River, causing flooding in Vijayapura district.
The Bhima river’s floodwaters have inundated several villages, including Kumasagi village in Alameel taluk, affecting over 50 houses which are waterlogged. More than 15 sheep have been swept away by the floodwaters, while over 10 have died in the village. The villagers vented their anger saying that though they are facing difficulties, Sindagi Congress MLA Ashok Managuli had not bothered to visit them.
