Jannik Sinner’s second-round match against Terence Atmane at the China Open turned out to be one of the highlights of the tournament.

Sinner, a four-time major champion, was widely expected to win comfortably, but Atmane had other plans and pushed him hard throughout the contest.

After dropping the opening set 4-6, Atmane played some impressive tennis and managed to break late in the second set, taking it 7-5 to force a decider on Beijing’s Diamond Court.

Sinner’s experience and fitness eventually made the difference. He took control in the final set as Atmane struggled with cramp, closing out a hard-fought win 6-4, 5-7, 6-0.
