The Killarney-Turtle Mountain Arts Council has been enjoying the beautiful works of Metis artist David Hallett in his exhibition, My Spirit Dreams in Color'. Hallett's exhibition has been on display at the gallery in the Heritage Home for the Arts throughout the month of September.
David Hallett is a Metis painter who currently resides in Winnipeg, MB. Hallett has familial ties to Grand Rapids (Misipawiskik) and Bisset, MB. His art reformulates the oral legends of his swampy Cree ancestors. Keeping in the traditions he weaves legends loosely and interjects personal biographical references and contemporary ideas freely. Hallett's paintings are both creation and preservation. From his earliest works in 1987 to present day pieces, David's work is sure to leave an impact.
