Bareilly DIG Ajay Sahni on Saturday said that names of several individuals associated with cleric Tauqeer Raza’s organisation, Ittehad-e-Millat Council, have emerged in connection with the recent violence in the city. Their names have been mentioned in the FIRs registered.

Speaking to IANS, DIG Sahni said, “In yesterday’s violence, 10 FIRs have been registered and 39 people detained, including Tauqeer Raza. He has been sent to judicial custody. We have recovered weapons, bottles, and other items used in stone-pelting.”

He further informed that 22 policemen were injured in the incident and are currently undergoing treatment.
