: With Durga Puja right around the corner, preparations gather momentum in Tura as pandal constructions are in full swing, with artisans working tirelessly to complete elaborate structures adorned with lights and decorations.

This year, Tura alone will host 33 puja pandals. In Garo Hills there are around 142 puja pandals, with West Garo Hills accounting for 92, including private celebrations.

This year, the Central Puja Committee (CPC), Tura has also put in place guidelines to ensure a smooth and peaceful celebration. Guidelines include maintaining hygiene and cleanliness, strict restrictions on using of DJs and also maintaining a silent zone near the District Maternity & Child Hospital area during the idol immersion, as issued by the administration.
