Michael Martin attracts some odd looks and double-takes from pedestrians — including a few who can’t resist striking poses — as he cruises Ottawa streets in the so-called “GATS-mobile.”
During an afternoon ride-along through the east-end Pineview neighbourhood, groups of kids walking home from school stop in their tracks and point at the SUV equipped with tripod-mounted 360-degree cameras, a laser range-finder and GPS tracking systems on the roof.
One kid stops, points and shows off a pitch-perfect “flossing” dance, no doubt hoping to achieve immortality in a Google Street View capture.
