Kentucky has secured another $17.8 million in previously pledged federal funds to help build electric vehicle charging stations across the state.

The approval of funds promised last year brings the state’s total allocated through the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure program to nearly $55 million.

With the new funding, Kentucky is set to expand to Phases 2 and 3 of its EV plan. So far, 46 fast-charging sites have been awarded across Kentucky, with five already open and three more under construction. The State of Kentucky will not own or operate the stations.
