A $25,000 legacy fund from a world hockey event held last year in the Sarnia area is aiding 10 local minor hockey organizations.

The money was raised during a World Under 17 Hockey Challenge hosted by Tourism Sarnia-Lambton over 10 days in November with two Canadian teams and teams from Sweden, Finland and the U.S. taking part.

“Proceeds from the event were just under $25,000,” said Mark Perrin, executive director of the local tourism marketing agency. “We were able to round it up to $25,000 to create that legacy,”
