NEW YORK — Over much of his first month with the Yankees , reliever Camilo Doval was a disappointment. He was pitching his way out of the high-leverage equation in the Yankees’ bullpen after coming over from the Giants at the trade deadline.

The right-hander was struggling mightily with his adjustment to a new role in pinstripes. He’d show flashes of his potential with his dynamic stuff, but he wasn’t reliable and often all over the place with his command.

Since late last month, however, Doval has started to settle in, producing consistently and giving the Yankees a sample to suggest he’s worthy of some late-inning opportunities in October.
