Gautam was set to tie the knot on November 2. He was the youngest son in the family, and they were eagerly looking forward to the wedding festivities.

But tragedy struck early Saturday morning. The 31-year-old lost his life, along with four others, when the Mahindra Thar they were traveling in collided with a divider on NH-48 near Jharsa Chowk in Gurgaon. The sixth person is in critical condition.

Waiting inside the Sector 40 police station, his father, Yudhvir Singh, broke down.

“Meri parso hi usse baat hui thi. Keh raha tha ghar ki hone vali laado k liye phool aur kapde kharidne hain (I spoke to him just the day before; he was saying how he has to buy clothes and flowers for his bride to be).”
