The Emporia High Spartans once again travelled to another town for the Friday Night Lights as they faced off against Topeka High. It would be a low-scoring affair that saw the Trojans squeak by the Spartans. With the loss, the Spartans move to 2-2 at the halfway point of the regular season.

The scoring would start at the end of the first quarter when Spartans quarterback Cael Claibourn threw a strike to Oliver Kline to give the team a 6-0 lead. Topeka would answer before halftime to tie it at 6-6. In the second half, it was more of the same as Topeka would score a touchdown but would get the point after attempt to go through. The Spartans would score with 4:20 left in the game, but they would not get the point after attempt to go through, losing the game 13-12.

It was a close-fought batt
