Senate President Bill Ferguson has suggested he may call a special session of the Maryland General Assembly to redraw the state’s congressional maps ( “Redistricting fight: Top takeaways as Maryland jumps in the fray with Trump, Texas,” Aug. 9).

That has some Republicans concerned that Democrats might once again draw congressional maps with “ridiculous zigzagging, meandering and paint-spatter districts.” I would like to highlight that this very issue has already been addressed, successfully, through the courts and would no doubt result in another legal challenge.
