DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — As central NC prepares for stormy weather this weekend, one Durham home has already felt a tragic impact.
According to the Durham Fire Department, lightning struck a home late Friday night around 10:45 p.m. in a cul-de-sac on Gardenview Place.
The fire chief said the first crew of firefighters saw the blaze coming from the third floor of the house, prompting a larger response. In total, according to the chief, 40 firefighters rushed to the scene.
The fire was under control in 15 minutes, according to the news release. No injuries were reported.
10 people were displaced as a result of this fire, and the fire chief said Red Cross is assisting them with lodging.
