A public sector bank employee with over 15 years of service shared his decision to stop reporting to work, citing severe health issues, intense workplace pressure and the erosion of his personal peace. In an anonymous post on Reddit’s r/IndianWorkplace forum, the 39-year-old banker said he could no longer continue in what many perceive as a “safe and prestigious” government job. “I feel suffocated in my government bank job. I don’t think I can do it anymore,” the Redditor wrote along with a photo of his office.
Having cleared three rounds of competitive national-level exams to secure his position, the banker described his early career as a dream fulfilled. But over time, that dream turned into a struggle with mounting stress and deteriorating health.
