Greater Western Sydney head of football Jason McCartney has confirmed the club will recruit axed Essendon defender Jayden Laverde.
Laverde was officially delisted by the Bombers last Sunday, along with fellow veteran Todd Goldstein.
But the 29-year-old will continue his AFL career at the Giants.
Speaking on Trade Radio on Friday, McCartney said Laverde’s impending arrival was “great news” considering the retirements of GWS veterans Callan Ward and Lachie Keeffe.
Laverde won’t officially join the club until after the rookie draft in the pre-season supplemental signing period.
“We’ll target some players with experience ... Jayden Laverde has agreed to join our club, which is great news, that was last week,” McCartney said.
