Thousands of people gathered in Berlin on Saturday to protest Israel’s military actions in Gaza.

The demonstration began near Red City Hall and was set to continue to a rally at the Großer Stern in Tiergarten.

Organizers had registered 30,000 participants but expected even more to join.

Around 50 groups, including pro-Palestinian organizations Medico International, Amnesty International and the Left Party, organized the protest.

They called for an immediate halt to German arms exports to Israel, humanitarian access to Gaza, and EU sanctions against Israel.

Police deployed about 1,800 officers across the city.
