Emergency crews rescued a man from a submerged vehicle in the Thames River in Ledyard early Saturday morning.

Officers were contacted by a Ledyard resident saying he was going to drive his vehicle into the water around 4:15 a.m.

When emergency crews arrived, they said they found the man in his vehicle, which was partially submerged in the Thames River at the Yale Boat House boat launch.

As officers entered the water and attempted to get into the vehicle, they said it became fully submerged.

Firefighters arrived and used equipment to break the driver's side window.

According to police, emergency crews rescued the man from the vehicle. He was reportedly unresponsive at that time.
