A new $5,000 bursary for female graduates of Lambton Central Collegiate and Vocational Institute in Petrolia has named its first recipient.
Tatiana Brophy, who will study fire science at Lambton College, recently received the initial All-Around Student Bursary created by retired teacher Linda Smith.

It’s one of several new student scholarships and bursaries created through the Sarnia Community Foundation.
“We’re like a conduit,” said Mike Barron, foundation executive director. “Donors are able to set up those funds with the foundation” and “it will be able to be disbursed for years to come.”
“Between last year and this year, I think we’ve established five scholarships within the foundation,” he said. “That’s another piece of what the foundation does.”
