Beyond President Joe Biden and his fantasy-fueled seconds, they blindly diminished the highest honor the U.S. can bestow on a civilian, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, by bestowing it on Megan Rapinoe , captain of the 2019 World Cup-winning U.S. team. That team taught America a lasting lesson about misapplied patriotism.
That Rapinoe, before an international audience, regularly fronted a squad of young American women that was so relentlessly obnoxious, self-entitled and ungracious in winning, that it became OK — a matter or moral conviction — for Americans to root against an American team.
That lesson, as it relates to sports, remains taught as our most fist-brandishing, chant-leading Ryder Cup team members and their booze-fueled, gambling-emboldened on-site supporters have made “ro
