Puri: In a major crackdown on narcotics trade, the Puri Town Police seized 200 grams of brown sugar worth around ₹20 lakh and arrested two accused during a raid in Neelachakra Nagar.
The accused, identified as Sukanti Panda of Puri’s Neelachakra Nagar and Mohammad Sajad of Jaleswar, were produced in court after their arrest.
Along with the narcotics, the police also seized ₹52,000 in cash, a four-wheeler vehicle, and two mobile phones from their possession.
Speaking at a press conference, Puri SP Prateek Singh said that the raid was part of the ongoing Operation Chakra, under which police have intensified action against criminals and drug traffickers in the district.
