PARIS (AP) — Monaco failed to pressure Paris Saint-Germain at the top of Ligue 1 as it slipped to a 3-1 defeat at Lorient on Saturday.
It was the second defeat of the season for coach Adi Hütter. Monaco’s defense let it down once again, as it did many times last season, and Hütter is still searching for the right balance in his attack-minded side.
Monaco has 12 points and defending champion PSG could move three points ahead at the top with a home win against Auxerre later Saturday, while Toulouse hosted Nantes in the other game.
PSG was missing injured captain Marquinhos in central defense, the latest injury to hit the club. Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembélé, fellow forward Désiré Doué and midfielder João Neves are also sidelined.
