POLK COUNTY, Texas — A Corrigan-Camden football player was taken to a hospital during a football game on Friday.

Superintendent Brian Aiken confirmed a football player, who was not actively playing in that night's game, suffered from a medical emergency and was taken to the hospital. Aiken said the student is currently in critical condition.

The athlete's name and specific health-related details were withheld from Corrigan-Camden ISD's official statement, but they directed concerned parties to donate to the student's family on the Bulldog Athletic Facebook page . CBS19 spoke with the fundraiser's organizer and can verify it's validity.
