RORY MCILROY refused to play a shot at the Ryder Cup as the US crowd's abuse crossed the line.

And fans were reportedly ejected from Bethpage Black amid the animosity.

McIlroy and Shane Lowry teamed up once again in the fourballs on Saturday afternoon.

Lowry sank two clutch putts to put Europe 2up against Justin Thomas and Cameron Young.

The Irishman blew a fuse on the third hole and shouted "f*** you" in response to vitriolic heckling.

But tempers flared again on the sixth green.

McIlroy was lining up a long birdie putt from around 34ft.

But the boos, jeering and various shouts from the raucous New York crowd were too much.

And even when he prepared to take the shot, the abuse continued.

So much so that McIlroy stepped away from the ball twice because the distraction was too much
