EASTON, Mass. —
Close to 400 people took part in the "Walk for Alopecia" at Borderland State Park in Easton on Saturday — with a goal of raising awareness and money.
Alopecia is an autoimmune disease that causes hair loss on the scalp, face, and sometimes other body areas.
Many who attended the walk shared personal stories of loved ones impacted by the disease.
"Matty started losing his hair when he was not even 3 years old," Lauren Nadeau said. "He used to have patchy alopecia."
Lauren and Robert Nadeau organized the "Walk for Alopecia" Boston Saturday with their son in mind.
This was the first ever alopecia walk in Boston, and Nadeau's organization raised more money than almost any of the other walks around the country.
"We started the day at $62,000 not including raffles, day of
