A lingering London kiss was spicy enough – literally – to set a world record.

The Nova Scotia couple of Jamie Jack, who has Huron County roots, and Mike Jack, a London native, appear in the 2026 Guinness World Records book for the “longest habanero pepper kiss,” a feat they accomplished on Feb. 25, 2023, at the Hot Sauce Expo in the Forest City.

The record-breaking kiss saw the couple each eat a hot habanero pepper in less than a minute and then immediately hold a kiss for more than 15 minutes without drinking water, smashing the previous record of three minutes and 37 seconds.

The couple chose 15 minutes as their goal to celebrate their 15 th wedding anniversary.
