England's players were in tears on the pitch as they won the Women's Rugby World Cup.

The Red Roses were crowned world champions for the third time thanks to an emphatic 33-13 final victory over Canada at the Allianz Stadium, Twickenham.

It was a momentous day on all fronts, with the match being played in front of a 81,885 crowd in west London - a record for a women's rugby match.

England held a 21-8 lead at half-time thanks to converted tries from Ellie Kildunne, Amy Cokayne and Alex Matthews.

And they never looked back after that, as they survived a spirited effort from Canada in the second half.

But their spell of pressure was put to bed when Matthews grabbed her second try of the game, with a conversion taking England to 33 points, and giving them the win by a 20-point margin.
