Brooke Kajdy, a 24-year-old mother from Airdrie, Alberta, has died after battling Stage 4 B-cell lymphoma. She passed away on September 19, following a courageous fight against cancer that began with her diagnosis in June 2023, when she was 20 weeks pregnant with her second child.

Kajdy's journey began when she was diagnosed with cancer while expecting her son, Theo. Faced with a difficult choice, she opted to continue her pregnancy and pursue a modified treatment plan that would minimize risks to her unborn child. In October 2023, she reflected on her decision, stating, "I was already 20 weeks. It wasn’t like I was just a few weeks in."

After giving birth to Theo via C-section at 32 weeks, Kajdy expressed her joy at his health, saying, "I was so happy that once he was out, he was completely healthy. He’s perfect."

Despite undergoing multiple rounds of chemotherapy, Kajdy remained dedicated to her family. Her obituary described her as a warm and vibrant person who prioritized spending quality time with her children, Sophie and Theo, and her husband, Gabe. She was known for her kindness and grace, which touched the lives of many.

When traditional chemotherapy failed to eliminate the cancer, her oncologist recommended clinical drug trials in the United States. However, the cost of these treatments was estimated to be between $500,000 and $1 million, much of which would need to be paid out of pocket. To help cover these expenses, Kajdy and her family launched a GoFundMe campaign, which successfully raised $110,007.

In the fundraiser, Gabe described Kajdy as "the most unselfish, positive person anyone would know," highlighting her willingness to risk her own health for the sake of their unborn son. He noted that she faced each day with purpose and compassion, and her absence leaves a significant void in the lives of those who knew her.

Kajdy's story resonated with many in her community, who rallied around her during her illness. Her obituary emphasized her role as a devoted mother and partner, stating, "Sophie, Theo, and Gabe were everything to Brooke; they kept her grounded and gave her the strength to fight."

Brooke Kajdy's legacy will be remembered for her strength, love for her family, and the impact she had on those around her.
