A Brooklyn woman was killed after the driver of a Tesla struck her while she was on her bicycle early Saturday morning in Williamsburg and then sped off, police said.
NYPD officials said they responded to a call about a collision between a blue Tesla and the cyclist, Alexandra Huggins, at the intersection of Meserole and Leonard streets at around 2:30 a.m. Saturday.
Police said Huggins, 32, was unconscious, unresponsive and critically injured, and was taken to nearby Woodhull Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Police said Huggins was biking southbound on Leonard Street when she was hit. According to police, the driver sped off and was last seen travelling west on Meserole Street. Leonard Street has a bike lane, but it’s not protected.
